This is an exciting opportunity to join us as the Redevelopment Communications and Engagement Manager.
We are currently in the process of redeveloping the hospital involving a full new build to create a state-of-the-art hospital for the residents of Hillingdon, and beyond, which supports the very best in delivery of healthcare and will be fit for our future.
The postholder will be an enthusiastic and proactive individual who has a proven track record and experience in similar communications and engagement roles, who can demonstrate a solutions focused approach. The postholder will ensure the highest standards of communications and will have a key role in the development and delivery of comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans to ensure that plans for the new Hillingdon Hospital are shaped and supported by key stakeholders. They will promote the work of the redevelopment programme to the media, stakeholders, public and staff with an aim to build on exciting relationships and seek the views of a variety of stakeholders.
Working within a high performing, friendly and dynamic team, the postholder will lead on all delegated projects as the scheme progresses.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the development and delivery of comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans to ensure that plans for the new Hillingdon Hospital are shaped and supported by key stakeholders. They will promote the work of the redevelopment programme to the media, stakeholders, public and staff with an aim to build on existing relationships.
The postholder will also undertake core communication activities include website management, newsletter production, supporting the public partnership forum and running our webinars.
The Communications and Engagement Manager will have experience engaging with the community and will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills with significant experience of drafting copy for a range of publications from corporate documents to public information leaflets, newsletters, press releases and websites.
Whilst the postholder will report to the Redevelopment Directorate, they will be expected to have a good working relationship and work closely with the Trust Communications team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Undertake stakeholder mapping and analysis to inform the development of quarterly comprehensive stakeholder engagement plans to ensure plans for the new Hillingdon Hospital are shaped and supported by key stakeholders
- Write communication and engagement strategies that will encourage involvement and understanding from all audiences.
- Manage the timely delivery of the communications and engagement work in coordination with the programme PMO and external partners.
- Engage with the public across Hillingdon to raise awareness and provide opportunities to be involved with the redevelopment plans.
- Deliver effective staff, Governor and Non-Executive Director (NED) engagement in conjunction with the Trust Communications team, as appropriate.
- Manage the programme’s stakeholder relationships, providing regular updates, preparing briefings and identifying opportunities for involvement.
- Taking highly complex and sensitive information about the redevelopment and developing persuasive communications materials for different audiences.
- Development of editorial content such as the monthly newsletter, news articles and features, videos, campaign material and social media content.
- Ongoing management of the redevelopment website including updating of website Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) in line with comments received via the online survey.

Essential criteria
- Engaging with the community and implementing community engagement strategies
- Significant experience of delivering written and verbal communications for a range of audiences
- Knowledge of the local landscape
- Knowledge and experience of insight and data to support decision making and engagement of the redevelopment
- Excellent written communication skills with significant experience of drafting copy for a range of publications from corporate documents to public information leaflets, newsletters, press releases and websites.
- Strong media relations skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with journalists and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to present complex and sensitive information in an understandable and appropriate way
- An understanding of the support and communication needs of the diverse range of people who use health and care services, including understanding barriers to participation.
- Ability to exercise judgement in identifying and assessing complicated events/problems and the implications of each of these have to be considered
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
