Job overview
We are looking for someone to work as part of the Catering Team, assisting in all aspects of preparation, service, wash-up and cleaning duties related to the provision of a high quality catering service to patients, staff, visitors and hospitality functions
To meet standards in line with agreed policy’s, procedures, including key performance Indicators (KPIs) profitability and productivity
Maintain good customer and colleague relations at all times.
Main duties of the job
This list covers all the main duties that would be expected of catering assistants, these will vary between Kitchen/Dining Room.
• Completion of hygiene records and documents as per HACCP.(Hazards Analysis critical control)
• Maintaining high standards of personal and general food hygiene.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in all catering areas.
• Assist in preparation and service of food and beverages for staff, patient’s visitors and hospitality functions.
• Probing of all food temperatures and recording; during storage, preparation, regeneration and service, adhering to food hygiene legislation at all times.
• Assisting with the management of stock; receipt, rotation storage, stocking up and stock taking.
• Till duties, following cash handling procedures.
• Menu co-ordination, picking & packing of ward food according to menu choice and recording information.
• Delivery of meals and provisions to patients and to other units.
• Cleaning and wash-up of all equipment, machinery, crockery and cutlery associated with the above service.
• Cleaning and stocking the vending machines.
• Topping up all cleaning materials in work area as appropriate.
• Appropriate disposal of refuse.
• Reporting of maintenance and pest control issues.
• Maintaining safe systems of work.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
