This is a Full-Time community job (10 PAs) based in the Hillingdon Learning Disability Team, you will work with a Core Trainee, Higher Specialist Trainee and colleague Consultants.
CNWL has built on excellent links with Brunel University, successful candidate will have the option to take up an extra 1PA as an educational post.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job
You will have a dedicated office and IT access as well as facilities for remote working. There is scope for academic work with Imperial College London.
You will provide psychiatric input to intellectually disabled adults registered with Hillingdon GPs. This includes advice, assessment, medical treatment as well as risk management working closely with team colleagues. There may, very occasionally, be the need to take on supervisor role for CTO/restricted patients. You will have responsibility for your inpatients who can be admitted to two LD beds in the generic adult mental health unit in Frey's Ward, Riverside Centre, Hillingdon Hospital. You will work closely with the Local Authority and other partner agencies and contribute to the management of the team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide a Consultant Psychiatric service for adults with Learning Disabilities living in Hillingdon.
- To ensure, support and develop the provision of ongoing psychiatric input to people with Learning Disabilities living in the community.
- To attend community team referrals and complex case reviews, community team clinical governance and management meetings. The clinical case load will be a mix of clinic-based appointments, work in local residential providers and day resources.
- To provide a Consultant Psychiatric service for people with a Learning Disability who may be admitted on Frays and Crane Ward, acute inpatient mental health wards at The Riverside Centre (2 beds). This would include providing Responsible Clinician cover, attending and providing Responsible Clinician input at weekly ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, administration and preparation of tribunal reports.
- To lead the collaboration with mainstream mental health services within the Borough.
- To be an active participant in the shaping of new services in light of recent and ongoing changes to the NHS, in collaboration with relevant Clinical and Service Managers.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice
- Included on the GMC specialist register or within 3 months
- Approved under section 12(2) MHA, 1983 or within 3 months
- Approved Clinician status or within 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Registered as a Specialist in Learning Disability Psychiatry (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
- Management training/qualifications
- Recognized by Royal College of Psychiatrists as a specialist registrar trainer.
- Post-graduate qualification in a field related to Psychiatry, or child care.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Up-to-date knowledge in management of adults with learning disability
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
Desirable criteria
- Specialist interest as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies.
- Knowledge of current issues in national strategic direction
Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide clinical experience of Learning Disability and child psychiatry
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Desirable criteria
- Experience of multi-agency work, especially with user, carer and voluntary organizations
- Experience in medico legal work
- Experience in service management and development
Skills

- High level of clinical skill
- Ability to work constructively in multidisciplinary teams and multi-agency systems
