- An exciting opportunity to work within our renal unit for a full time Band 6 registered nurse.
- Provide excellent nursing care, utilise specialist knowledge. take charge as required, actively participate, and contribute to management/ coordination of the ward or department, support deputise for ward manager as necessary, supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Provide specialist knowledge in renal nursing, ensure education and training opportunities for patients and staff including pre and post registration students.
- To ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and other resources.
- Also, to carry out the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the department.
- Proposed Interview date on 6th August 2024.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
· The renal unit looks after our local population of renal patients as well as patients from further afield.
· The ward cares for patients with kidney disease encompassing acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and renal transplantation. There are 2 haemodialysis units, one of which looks after acutely unwell patients and a home dialysis unit.
· You will contribute to the provision of excellent patient care and must have experience and up to date knowledge and skills in renal nursing. You will take regular charge of the ward and be able to work within a busy environment.
· This post will provide great opportunities to develop your clinical and managerial knowledge and skills as well as your leadership potential.
· You should be able to draw on extensive knowledge and skills and be comfortable in giving information to patients to help them make informed choices, have developed clinical decision make skills, be a confident educator for both patients and staff and be able to have a flexible approach in meeting the needs of patients.
· Opportunities for study, teaching, research and service development are available and encouraged as part of this role within the team.
· Applicants must hold a recognised renal course and mentorship qualification. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and team work skills.

- Accredited renal course or similar specialist course
- Mentorship course or equivalent or working towards
- Evidence of further education and professional development
- Nursing degree or educated to degree level
- Minimum of two years experience in renal nursing at B5
- Experience and knowledge of Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Nephrology & Transplantation
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to individual needs
- Ability to prioritise and coordinate the ward or department
- Ability to prioritise and coordinate the ward or department
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge in renal medicine and transplantation
- Demonstrates an understanding of the assessment process for student nurses
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Demonstrates an understanding of the application of leadership skills
- Awareness of current nursing issues
