Job overview

To work as an integral member of the podiatry clinic and diabetes foot MDT to deliver high quality care to patients with an increased risked of limb loss.

Main duties of the job

We are welcoming applications for a Specialist Diabetes Podiatrist to join our multi-disciplinary foot team at St George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This position offers the chance to work within an innovative and forward-thinking Diabetes Foot Clinic, in one of London’s largest and busiest hospitals.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic individual to deliver best practice care to patients at high risk of limb loss. The successful post-holder would be expected to integrate themselves into a busy outpatient clinic and bi-weekly Diabetes Foot MDT. They would support and promote effective, evidence-based care to patients with a range of diabetes foot conditions, whilst incorporating and championing the biopsychosocial model of care. The use of advanced therapies, including topical negative pressure therapy, larvae therapy and total contact casting is well established within the team.

We are proactive and constantly looking to improve the care of patients with diabetes foot complications. This enables colleagues to contribute to service development, clinical audit, patient and staff education, research, trials and publications. Furthermore, the service is fully integrated within the hospital which provides several exciting rotational and developmental opportunities, together with monthly interprofessional CPD and journal clubs.
