Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Facilities Management team at St. George's Hospital in Tooting  as the  Assistant General Manager.

The role provides managerial and professional assistance for the portfolio of Facilities Services within Trust premises primarily Hotel services function including (but not exhaustive) cleaning, catering, PFI management, linen and laundry, uniform provision, waste management, pest control and accommodation with a budget of approximately £35 million per annum.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have extensive experience in managing contract cleaning.

They will manage staff under their responsibility and ensure they receive appropriate training and development.

They will ensure that appraisals are undertaken and regular supervision provided, managing absence and performance and dealing with staffing issues as they arise.

They will manage and ensure the professionalism of staff at all times both in the wearing of uniform and in their interactions with staff, patients, visitors and contractors.

The post holder will deputise, as necessary, for the General Manager, Facilities in respect of the portfolio of services.

The post holder will assist the General Manager in the quality improvement and regulatory compliance for these services.

They will be involved in the financial cost improvement plans for the services in the division. They will be a competent users of NHS accounting packages.

The services are made up of approximately 80% outsourced services so robust contract management skills are essential to the success of this role.
Good Communication at all levels both internal and external will be necessary for the role.
