Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, self-motivated, forward thinking person to work in the Children's Community Physiotherapy Service, based in Thurrock and Essex.

You will be joining a supportive physiotherapy team that cares for children and young people with a wide range of needs ensuring a varied and interesting workload.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent organisational and communication skills along with a good level of IT competency. They will need to be able to work independently and have the ability to effectively and efficiently prioritise and manage a varied workload. They must also be adaptable to changing/challenging situations.

You will be fully supported to establish a full understanding of your role and provided with opportunity for ongoing learning and development to improve your clinical skills and knowledge.

The successful candidate must be a car driver.

Main duties of the job

  • As a physiotherapy assistant, you would:

    • demonstrate and work through exercises with children and carers
    • keep notes updated
    • work closely with physiotherapists and other health professionals
    • Take care / ordering of stock/equipment, general tidiness.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,192 to a maximum of £2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To support the physiotherapists and work as part of the multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams to provide a high quality Physiotherapy service within Thurrock and Essex.

To provide some administrative support to the department.
