                              Junior Sister/Charge Nurse 

              Secondment/Fixed Term opportunity for 12 months

The role will be a 12 month secondment and will work across the services of Interventional Radiology and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy teams to deliver high standards of patient care and quality provision.

We are committed to developing our nursing staff and we are committed to providing clinical support and offer internal and external courses to further your development. The Junior Sister will work closely with the Specialist Nurse Practitioner to lead the team as well being a vital part in the day-to-day running of the IR lists. Alongside circulating and scrubbing the Junior Sister position will be involved in clinical decision making ensuring the continuation and development of the nurse led PICC and Midline service, nurse led sedation and there are other new opportunities for nurses to carry out interventions under ultrasound.

Main duties of the job

The post holder deputises for the Senior Nurse, ensuring the effective running of the department in his/her absence.  Working closely with the Senior Nurse and the Associate Director of Nursing, the Junior Sister/charge nurse is responsible for the delivery of professional nursing care to meet patient needs according to the standard agreed in the Performance Management Framework and the Nursing Strategy. 

In addition, the post holder is responsible for providing clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff, facilitating practice development within the clinical area.  The post holder will also be involved in developing services related to area of practice such as nurse led sedation services, IV access and out of hours’ service provision.
