Job overview
SWLSTG are currently looking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry for the Richmond Older Adult Community Mental Health Team. The opportunity has arisen due to the retirement of the previous post holder.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for to join an established community mental health team in Richmond. The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, in order to provide medical leadership to the team. This is a varied role and will include working across the Memory Assessment Service and the Recovery and Support Team.

- • MRCPsych or equivalent
- • ST/CCT training in Old Age psychiatry
Eligibility
Essential criteria
- • Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current licence to practise from the GMC at intended start date.
- • Section 12 Approved or able to achieve within three months of appointment
- • Right to work in the UK
Desirable criteria
- • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Clinical skills, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- • Minimum of two (2) years working in Old Age psychiatry
- • Ability to provide day to day responsibility of acute medical and psychiatric care.
- • Experience of working with people with mental health problems in a psychiatric setting
- • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge

- • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
- • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
Desirable criteria

- • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
- • Ability to work in and lead team.
- • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement.
- • Participated in research or service evaluation.
- • Able to use and appraise clinical evidence.
- • Has actively participated in clinical audit/quality improvement programmes.
Desirable criteria
- • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
- • Reflect on purpose of CPD undertaken.
- • Experienced in clinical research and/or service evaluation.
- • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
- • Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients

- • Ability to provide clinical leadership to MDT.
- • Willingness to supervise junior medical staff and staff from other disciplines. • Willingness to take on fair share of Trust-wide duties where necessary.

- Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative
