Job overview

We are looking for two motivated Senior Information Analysts, one to join our Strategic Analysis team, one to join our Performance team. Both roles are at Band 7 and permanent.
If you would like to join the team at this exciting time, you will need to be educated to degree level with experience of manipulating complex databases. You should have excellent analytical skills and the ability to collate, interpret and present information to all levels of the organisation.
You should be experienced in using SQL and MS Excel and possess a good knowledge of NHS data sets.
You must be self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to work under pressure.

Main duties of the job

1.1    The post holder will be an integral member of the Trust’s Informatics team, working to transform Trust data into timely accurate information.  Whether involved in the production of routine content or responding to ad hoc requests and requirements the post holder will be responsible, as part of a team, for designing, sourcing, scripting, analysing and presenting information to a variety of users both within and outside the Trust.  
1.2    The postholder will provide senior analytical support within the team and will provide expertise across the range of informatics tools including but not limited to SQL, Excel, and Qliksense.  At all times their ethos will be to ensure information is presented in a clear comprehensible manner, in an accurate non-ambiguous way, conforming to Trust informatics standards.

2.1    Gain & maintain full working knowledge of the Trust's information systems, ensuring at all times that any changes which may impact on specific analyses are incorporated.
2.2    Gain & maintain full working knowledge of the NHS data dictionary and external information reporting requirements, including all published technical guidance.
2.3    Gain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the full RMH data model.
2.4    Gain and maintain full working knowledge of in-house programming and presentational standards. 
2.5    Produce & maintain routine information content using Trust information systems to meet Trust and NHS requirements and deadlines
2.6    Liaise with Trust information users to understand their requirements, and to evaluate and advise them on an appropriate analysis and presentation.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Higher qualification or significant -analytical experience, preferably within the NHS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of manipulating complex databases
  • Experience of presenting complex information so that it is understandable to users
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with NHS Data, Dataflows and Performance Targets
  • Experience in analytical tools such as R or Python
  • Awareness of NHS issues and initiatives

Skills Abilities/knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to select an appropriate methodology when analysing data.
  • Skills in SQL or similar database or programming tools
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent Data Analysis skills
  • Practical experience of PC Applications and good knowledge of MS Office products
  • Ability to design appropriate visualisations to the data context and audience
  • Report writing and written presentation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Skills in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology
