Job overview

The RNOH Materials management team is a dynamic and diverse team who supply the Trust with a first class service to ensure the right clinical equipment, for the right clinician and the right patient at the right time every time.

The key purpose of the role is to undertake the supervision of Materials management team and the work streams and assist and manage all aspects of the distribution service in relation to all clinically related consumables, including all aspects of PPE under the direction of the Supply chain & logistics Manager. 

Other tasks include working closely with a number of key Trust operational staff including Theatre management, Ward managers and departmental heads as well Trust command teams. These tasks will also include working with external stakeholders, e.g. North Central London Hospitals (NCL), NHS supply chain, NHSE&I and NHS England and other NHS partner organisations, particularly in relation to PPE.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supervising the Theatre stores team and the Materials management team  that provide wards and departments a continuous supply of goods in line with the Trust’s materials control systems.

This will also include managing and monitoring all PPE goods receipting, ordering and inventory management tasks as well as visiting the service user departments, undertaking meetings with end users, supervising the undertaking of inventory stock ordering using Automatic Data Capture and other Materials Management systems, liaising with the relevant Trust PPE & IPCT Team/committees as well external partners from NCL and NHS supply chain on a daily basis.

We are looking for a person who has the ability to be flexible, responsive whilst maintaining a professional demeanour at all times as this is key to the role. 

Experience in an NHS environment would be advantageous as would experience in procurement methodology and practice.

To help develop and maintain a framework of comprehensive auditing, stock control and continuity of distribution of all clinical Supplies and related consumables, liaising with regional & national teams in relation to submission of daily situation reports, product issues including recalls, communications and escalations for all clinical stock, pharmaceuticals not included.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for supervising the Theatre stores team, including  the Materials management team (Mat Man) that provide wards and departments a continuous supply of goods in line with the Trust’s materials control systems. This role will include assisting in coordinating the bi-annual stock takes of owned stock held across each financial year.

 

The post holder will be required to undertake Ward inventory duties in times where cover in the team is required as well as be responsible for the supervisory role supporting the Supply Chain and Logistic Manager.

This support will also include staff management tasks such as appraisals, managing leave and sickness as necessary, and may also assist in disciplinary processes, where required.
