·                 The post holder must understand all aspects of a patient’s pathway from referral to treatment including the following:

-            Reading and understanding patient case notes

-            Receipt and entry of the referral

-            Booking and cancelling outpatient appointments

-            Post session recording of outpatient attendances

-            Adding patients to day case / inpatient waiting lists

-            To Come In (TCI) offers, deferred treatment and pause periods

-            Admitting, transferring and discharging patients

-            RTT status code at all points of the patient pathway

-            How to correct PAS entries.

 

·                 Adding / removing patients on the Patient Tracking List (PTL) and ensuring patients are booked in accordance with the Trust Elective Access Policy.

·                 Ensure PTL records are accurate by cross checking with a range of sources from patient letters to patient case notes.

In summary the post holder will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of the 18 week rule suite and associated guidelines and presviosu NHS experience.
  • Experience of clinical systems and referencing clinical documents and diagnostic results.
  • The ability to actively manage the administrative processes associated with patient pathways and review the functioning and effectiveness of clinical teams.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of the onsite validation team to ensure that pathways are validated and corrected.
  • The ability to ensure extensive feedback on validations completed on a pathway basis and to give an audit trail of the validations fulfilled on a daily basis.
  • To be able to utilise the MS Excel application as required to record validations.
  • To be able to communicate well with all team members including multidisciplinary teams as well as patients and relatives as required.

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Achieved Grade C in English Language & Maths GCSE or equivalent.

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent.

Experience

  • Previous experience in RTT validation.
  • Previous administrative or clinical experience
  • Use of Electronic Patient Record or other hospital patient administration systems.

  • Knowledge of iCS, Sunquest ICE, CRIS (PACS) or similar hospital systems.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work well with other departments and staff groups.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook
