Job overview

West London CAMHS Eating Disorder Service (EDS) are looking for a Speciality Doctor (1.0 WTE) each to join our friendly, supportive, and experienced multi-disciplinary specialist mental health teams.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and innovative Specialty Doctor who can help taking a leading clinical role with our teams. The role offers the opportunity to combine clinical work and service development within our specialist teams.  We are looking for a candidate who is able to maintain clinical curiosity and engage in reflective practice, as well as be able to be an advocate for children, young people and families’ needs. We hope the successful candidate would support and implement our trust values and commitments to staff wellbeing and manageable job plans.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Primary Medical Degree
  • • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • • Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
  • • Eligibility for Approved Clinician status with Section 12 approval
Desirable criteria
  • • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • • MRCPsych.
  • • Higher degree such as a Masters or PhD

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • • At least 4 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent gained on part time flexible basis)
  • • At least 2 years in a speciality training programme in psychiatry or as a fixed term speciality trainee in Psychiatry

Knowledge, Clinical expertise in speciality

Essential criteria
  • • Good knowledge of Psychiatry
  • • Knowledge and experience in psychopharmacology as applicable to CAMHS
Desirable criteria
  • • Training and experience in CAMHS and Eating disorders
  • • Experience in a variety of therapies
  • • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • • Training in medical/clinical education and supervision

Personal Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Willingness and ability to work within a Multidisciplinary team
  • • Willingness to work flexibly, adapting approach to the clinical situation and changing service provision.
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience of clinical supervision of junior Doctors

CPD

Essential criteria
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • • Registered with Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD

Clinical Audit and Research

Essential criteria
  • • Willing to participate in clinical audit activities.
  • • Evidence of participation in audit and/or research
  • • Interest in clinical research
Desirable criteria
  • • Experience managing junior staff, e.g. BMedSCI, DClinPsy, MSc and MD students
  • • Relevant Publications
