Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Havering Integrated Children's Services Occupational Therapy  Team.  Occupational Therapy  provision is provided over a variety of settings i.e. clinic, home, nurseries and schools to children with a variety of complex  conditions.

 Havering Integrated Children's Services is comprised of Paediatrician, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and CAMHS. We have a strong focus on integrated working across health, education and social care.
Close proximity to local train station and office base is on local bus route for ease of travel.

Main duties of the job


  • Develop and implement an individualised intervention programme in conjunction with the child and family/carers referred to the service.
    •To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload.
  • Provide high quality Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and service.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of high standards of clinical care ensuring the service provided is needs led, compliant with national guidance and is viewed positively by service users.
  • Responsible for undertaking comprehensive clinical assessments of service users.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy treatments for specialist case load, in a variety of settings, as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Provide  clinical advice to other team members on the suitability of various assessments and intervention methods where appropriate

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Degree in OT
  • hcpc registration
  • Working as an OT with children with a variety of conditions, CP, ASD, Sensory processing, global dev delay
  • Experience of working with specialist therapy assessments and interventions of children with developmental needs in the community equipment and carrying it assessments
  • Report writing for SEN
  • Planning and delivery of training to other professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Successful completion of leadership courses or evidence of management skills
