An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced pharmacist to lead the pharmacy services to Anaesthetics and Critical Care at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust.

Benefiting from two brand new state-of-the art 12- and 15-bedded critical care units following significant investment in the service, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust offers an expanded critical care bed-base of 57 beds inclusive of a PACU and a tertiary neurosciences centre. The Anaesthetics and Critical Care Pharmacy team are also responsible for pharmacy services to Theatres, Recovery, Acute and Chronic Pain Services and Resuscitation services within the Trust.

The post holder will work to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients, influencing senior managers and clinicians within Anaesthetics and Critical Care, as well as managing junior pharmacy team members. As Lead Pharmacist for Anaesthetics and Critical Care, you will be working at Advanced stage II level and/or credentialed to RPS Advanced Core and Specialist (Critical Care) level, as defined by the RPS and UKCPA Critical Care Expert Professional Practice Curriculum. You will lead the critical care pharmacy team, which is staffed in line with GPICs standards, to provide a 7-day clinical pharmacy service on the critical care units. 

Main duties of the job

·       To lead the Clinical Pharmacy service to Anaesthetics and Critical Care. This will include responsibility for Critical Care wards, Theatres, Acute and Chronic Pain services and Resuscitation services cross-site.

·       To lead and manage the Anaesthetics and Critical Care pharmacy team.

·       To lead the development of policy, guidelines and protocols within Anaesthetics and Critical Care. 

·       To contribute to the management of the drugs budget for Anaesthetics and Critical Care and the implementation of any drug savings.

Our major sites, King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, are in excellent locations less than 30minutes from Central London.
