Job overview
Foundation Year 2 Doctor positions available in the General Medicine department and the Stroke department.
This is paid on the MT02 pay scale.
This post would be suitable for any trainee who has, or are on course to, successfully complete a 1-year Foundation School programme or has achieved equivalent competencies who will join at Foundation Year 2 level (MT02).
Ideally trainees will have an up to date certification for Adult Life Support training, or be able to fulfil the necessary qualification upon appointment. Although this appointment is not accredited for training through HEE, the appointee will be expected to participate fully in the educational and training programmes within the department and the hospital.
The appointee will have a named clinical/ education supervisor. Annual leave and study leave is commensurate with other post foundation doctors. The experience and opportunities offered would be excellent experience for applicants planning a career in any medical specialty. Previous post holders have been successful in gaining entry to training programmes upon completion as well as completing their Royal College membership exams.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to participate in the departmental teaching programme activities like journal club and regular medical teaching for all junior doctor and trainees. The post holder will receive clinical supervision from consultants within the department. The post holder is expected to participate in the departmental teaching programme for all junior doctor trainees and in multidisciplinary teaching of nurses and medical students. Ward rounds will have a business and educational component to them. The postgraduate Education Centre at the Princess Royal University hospital has excellent facilities including a lecture theatre and a well-stocked library. There are many items of audiovisual equipment and access to computerised library search facilities such as Medline and the Internet. Lectures and courses are arranged on a regular basis. There is an active programme of postgraduate education, clinical and medical audit in which the post holder will be participating.

· Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust.
