12 month Fixed Term Contract

The General Medicine Care Group at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) is seeking to add to their team of consultants to provide General Internal Medicine for inpatients. 

We are looking for a, proactive and compassionate consultant.  The post-holder will be working within the General Medicine care group to supplement the team both for inpatients and as part of the acute medical take team on a rota basis. We encourage candidates with other sub-specialty interests to apply and are able to expand and modify the role to match the post holder’s specialty interests.  

The London Borough of Bromley has a growing, ageing population.  It already has the largest population of older people of all the London Boroughs with 58,200 people aged 65+ years, about 17% of population. It is expected that this will increase to 82,500 (42% increase) by 2035.The older population accounts for 53% of emergency admissions and 72% of bed days

Essential criteria
  • Registerable medical qualification
  • Full MRCP
Desirable criteria
  • Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD)

Registration

Essential criteria
  • Full Registration with GMC
  • Name on GMC Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment
  • On the day of interview applicants must be within 6 months of CCT or must have fully completed CESR application and be fully registered on the GMC Specialist Register. Any applications not meeting these criteria will not be considered.

  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of General Medicine on wards services in a busy Teaching Hospital
  • Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills
  • Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes

  • Management course and/or qualification

Management and Leadership

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams

Audit and Quality Improvement

Essential criteria
  • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
  • Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
