Senior Relationship Manager

NLH: NLH 7

Job overview

As the key relationship manager for a portfolio of our most passionate and high-value supporters, the Senior Relationship Manager will play a critical role in delivering transformational income to support both business-as-usual (BAU) fundraising and a £10m capital appeal for the redevelopment of our Inpatient Unit.

This role will lead the development and execution of a major donor strategy, focusing on identifying, cultivating, and securing significant gifts from high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). Working closely with the executive team, trustees, and senior stakeholders, the postholder will leverage networks, build meaningful relationships, and make direct five- and six-figure fundraising asks.

With recent investment in philanthropy and a completed wealth screening exercise revealing exciting new opportunities, this is a prime moment to shape and grow a high-value giving programme. The role requires an innovative and ambitious fundraiser with a strong track record in securing major gifts, crafting compelling cases for support, and delivering exceptional donor stewardship.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a proactive and strategic philanthropy professional to make a lasting impact and drive sustainable growth in a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and execute a major donor strategy and programme with a focus on retaining, uplifting and recruiting gifts from high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs)
  • Manage a personal portfolio of philanthropists, securing and stewarding 5-, and 6-figure gifts
  • Working with the Prospect Researcher, oversee and develop the prospect pipeline, proactively researching potential supporters and utilising networks from senior stakeholders involved in the Hospice
  • Produce and present compelling cases for support to secure transformational restricted and unrestricted donations
  • Further develop relationships and ensure exceptional stewardship of existing major supporters, ensuring a positive experience that supports opportunities for peer connections
  • Ensure donor records are accurate, compliant, and up to date, following data protection regulations and best practices
  • Foster strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, trustees, and key partners
  • Oversee and ensure that the executive team and trustees actively engage in the cultivation and stewardship of high-net-worth individuals, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s fundraising strategy
