Job overview

Band 7 - Clinical Specialist Nurse - Cardiac

Over the last 18 months we have seen a large investment in heart failure services across Barking, Havering and Redbridge, which has provided increased staffing and new services.

We are now looking for a senior nurse who is passionate about the care they give to patients with heart failure and who wants to make a real difference.  The successful candidate will have significant experience within cardiology and be ready to provide clinical leadership, as well as working closely with secondary care and other community services.

You will work in and be supported by a multi-disciplinary care team including nurses, doctors, pharmacists and psychologists. You will be supported by a Clinical Lead to help manage a population with increasingly complex needs, as we strive to  continuously improve the quality of service that is consistent across the patient’s journey.

Our friendly team is based in Newbury Park and serves the diverse and welcoming community across Redbridge.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide excellent clinical care for patients, predominantly with heart failure, and provide clinical support for junior colleagues
  2. To be a non-medical prescriber or willing to achieve within 12 months
  3. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day to day allocation of work.
  4. To further develop BHR Cardiology services in partnership with Key Stakeholders and the Clinical Lead
  5. To provide high-quality leadership qualities for the BHR Cardiology team by having and implementing organisational knowledge relating to trust protocols and procedures and supporting all to adhere to them.
  6. Support the development of high - quality cardiology care throughout the cardiology care pathways, supporting others to do the same through integrated and collaborative work

Starting with NELFT  NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
