Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Analyst to join NICE. You will be based in the Surveillance team and will work on a broad range of topics.  You will be responsible for assessing the impact of evidence and knowledge from a broad range of sources on guidance products.  You will define suitable approaches to monitoring and synthesising evidence to support surveillance and prioritisation board decisions.  You will engage with internal and external partners in formulating surveillance and prioritisation decisions.

Main duties of the job

  • Work with Information Specialists to identify new evidence from a variety of sources
  • Undertake evidence synthesis and give a balanced view to assess the impact of new evidence and intelligence on published guidance.
  • Developing proposals for the Prioritisation Board on areas for development of NICE guidance
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to obtain specialist advice to inform decisions within area of work
  • Contribute to technical and organisational developments and proposing changes to policy and methodology
  • Represent the Centre at internal and external events and conferences.

Working for our organisation

The Surveillance Team is responsible for the ongoing surveillance programme for published guidelines. This includes reviewing new evidence on a regular basis, for producing published Surveillance reports, and for recommending whether guidance should be updated. The team also supports the Clinical Directorate in topic prioritisation.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of knowledge in subjects with relevance to evidence-based decision-making (e.g. economics, public health, health psychology, mathematics, operational research, data science) or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training/development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of preparing summaries of research findings
  • Experience of working in and contributing to at least one area of guidance or policy development: Surveillance , Health research and assessment, Systematic review methodology , Quality improvement methods, Implementation, Health technology assessment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Highly Specialist/Advanced expertise in at least one of the following areas: Healthcare research methods, Systematic review methodology and synthesis, Quality improvement methods, Routinely collected health data, Medical statistics, Clinical trials, Public health and health policy, Social care, Epidemiology
  • Ability to communicate highly complex information accurately and persuasively using a variety of presentation techniques, in accessible language to an audience of varied technical backgrounds, and sensitively to patients who have the medical condition under discussion

Other
