Job overview
The post will require the applicant to co-ordinate and support the molecular radiotherapy pathway in Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine department at UCLH. Both practices are large and innovative with an expanding paediatric, teenagers and young adults and adult workload. Some research and data inputting may be required.
The Institute of Nuclear Medicine (INM), based within UCLH, provides a full range of procedures to the Trust and other hospitals throughout the UK. Performing approximately 15,000 patient studies each year, we are the largest single-site nuclear medicine unit in the UK, and one of a few able to offer both the full range of diagnostic, laboratory and therapy nuclear medicine procedures, and PET/CT services within a single department.
Molecular radiotherapy offered at UCLH includes radioiodine, I-131MIBG, Lu-177 DOTATATE, Lu-177 PSMA, Radium 223 and SIRT. Ten protected rooms are provided in the building, 6 of which are in regular clinical use.

Main duties of the job
The candidate will be recognised as a practitioner in their specific field, setting an example to junior staff and being available to advise colleagues in other areas. They will deputise for the management where necessary to address day to day operational issues. They will utilise their interpersonal skills to inspire, motivate and collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate improvements in service. They will work within the quality system, question and propose changes to procedures when necessary, to maintain the validity and appropriateness of the system with new and changing practices. In partnership with patients and other professionals make sound, ethically-based decisions in the interest of patients. They will regularly liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, engineers, nurses, physics colleagues, students and other allied health professionals, to maintain a positive working relationship across all professional boundaries.

Person specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Radiography/Nuclear Medicine or direct equivalent experience
- Demonstrate evidence of obtaining registration with HCPC/RCT or other appropriate professional body
- Competent in routine data acquisition and analysis.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience in Nuclear Medicine department and or molecular radiotherapy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in a diagnostic healthcare environment.
Desirable criteria
- Post qualification experience in a UK NHS environment.
Communication
Essential criteria
- Provide information and support about cancer, and communicate highly distressing, sensitive information to patients and relatives/carers.
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Plan, carry out and analyse clinical and departmental audits.
- Be confident to work autonomously within scope of knowledge and experience.
