Job overview
The post holder is expected to work under supervision, to assess, plan, implement, deliver and evaluate individualised patient care to critically ill patients, and their families.
He/she is a novice/advanced beginner to Critical Care requiring guidance and training in order to acquire the complex skills required for proficient intensive care and high dependency nursing.
He/she may not yet be an ICU trained practitioner but one who is working towards this.

Establishes and maintains the highest standards of organisation and care delivery
Provides a working and training environment that allows all staff to perform their duties to the best of their ability
Participates in audit and research to increase knowledge and assure quality of care

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- RN Educated to Diploma/Degree level
- Minimum 6 months acute hospital (NHS) experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Literacy and Numeracy will be tested on or before interview The post holder will be required to successfully complete the Introduction to Critical Care Course and National Step One Critical Care Competencies
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
- Able to use initiative Able to work as an effective team member
- Able to work a range of shifts including unsociable hours, internal rotation to nights and weekend shifts
- Motivated and Reliable staff
