Applications are invited for specialist registrar (locum appointment for service-LAS) in General Medicine with specialty interest in Gerontology, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Denmark Hill site).

We have the following vacancies available;

1x Post - Geriatric Medicine - Start Date 05/02/25 - 05/08/25 for 6mths

This post would be suitable for any trainee who has completed core medical training or can demonstrate equivalent competencies. The post would offer excellent experience for doctors planning a career in acute medicine or general medicine. 

 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will become an integral part of the team managing a post-acute general medical ward at King’s. He/she will be given training in Acute and general medicine.

He/she will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds, and multidisciplinary meetings. He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients, provide support for seriously ill patients and emergencies, and help coordinate their discharge planning. The post holder will participate in audit and governance activities of the ward and help deliver teaching and training to junior colleagues including teaching PACES candidates and year 5 medical students.

The post holder will participate in the medical registrar on-call rota with blocks of weekday and weekend on-call supporting the acute medical take and ward coverage.

Person specification

Essential/Desirable

Essential criteria
  • Full registration (or eligible for full registration) with the General Medical Council
  • Capability to work at SpR level within General Medicine
  • Experience of Audit/ quality improvement
  • Previous experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of geriatric medicine and multidisciplinary team working
