The post is based within the cardiology department of Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The department delivers state of the art clinical cardiology services and is a pioneer in many aspects of echo imaging including intra-procedural echo for TEER, PFO and LAAO closures. The post holder will be expected to input to our well respected and internationally recognised IVCC conference which is held annually. We are part of the impressive academic health science hospitals with strong links to Imperial College/ NHLI and our clinicians have a world class reputation in academic cardiology. This post will allow career development in both clinical and academic cardiology.
This post is based across Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The postholder will have expertise in all forms of echo imaging including lab based structural echo imaging. A key role of this post will be to leverage Consultant-led care to support the current infectious endocarditis service but the appointee will have the opportunity to take on a service development role and lead on (or contribute to) a number of areas. There is ample opportunity for an interested applicant to lead and develop other relevant imaging/valve disease areas depending on particular interest.
In addition there is opportunity to continue a subspecialty interest in for instance valve disease and endocarditis
Main duties of the job
The postholder will undertake a number of patient-facing activities, including specialist echo imaging, general cardiology and specialist valve clinics. They will help to support the current IE lead in delivering regular IE ward rounds and a weekly MDT. There will be an expectation to help create and deliver service development work and time for this is allocated in the job plan. There are yearly quota of cardiology on call for ward cover.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A key role of this post will be to leverage Consultant-led care to support the current service but the appointee will have the opportunity to take on a service development role and lead on (or contribute to) a number of areas, including specialist structural imaging, valve clinics and IE service. There is ample opportunity for an interested applicant to lead and develop other relevant imaging areas and academic research depending on particular interest.
This is a 10 PA post which includes 3 clinics (acute and community) a week, 2 imaging sessions for transoesophageal echocardiograms (TOE) and consultant led Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms (DSE), the weekly JCC and TAVI MDTs, a weekly Charing Cross ward round and participating the in Consultant of the Week

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- On GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
- Appropriate Royal College Membership
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree relevant to imaging / valve disease (MD, PhD)
Knowledge/ Skills

- Comprehensive clinical experience in Cardiology
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Expertise in imaging / valve disease
- IT Skills and computer literacy

- Further expertise in imaging / valve disease
