The post holder’s responsibility will incorporate development and implementation of the delivery maintenance strategy for all estates assets ensuring full compliance, inclusive of undertaking root cause analysis for Estates services or other system issues; this will at times require prioritising tasks and competing demands.
Ensuring that all Electrical plant and equipment are serviced and maintained throughout the Trust Estate, including the major overhauls and replacement of assets. in accordance with Statutory and Trust requirements in a timely manner.
The role will also include responsibility for ensuring that the hospital has compliant value-for-money service contracts for all specialist Estates maintenance services working closely with colleagues at other Trust sites to standardise contracts where appropriate. This will include working with Trust Procurement specialists to ensure that all contracts are fully compliant with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).
Main duties of the job
The following is a list of key areas of activity managed by the role but it is not intended as an exhaustive list and the post holder will be required to undertake all relevant electrical engineering duties and training as required.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HNC/HND in relevant field of Electrical Engineering or Building Services
- Management with focus on Electrical services or equivalent experience
- Membership of professional institute in relevant field
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level
- NEBOSH or IOSH safety qualification Qualified as ‘Authorised Person Electrical, Medical Gases and Lifts
Skills/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Provide and receive complex information; negotiating skills. Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information; agreement or co-operation required
- Exchanges maintenance, technical project-related information with specialists, non-specialists, including senior managers, directors; negotiates with contractors, suppliers / Communicates multi-stranded project, design, financial, contractual information to Board, senior managers, contractors, co-operation required
Experience
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and practice.
- Electrical services and systems operational estates management experience
- Detailed knowledge of electrical services and systems
Desirable criteria
- Detailed knowledge of NHS standards e.g. HTM/HBN

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
