Job overview

The goal of the Research & Innovation (R&I) team at ELFT is to maximise opportunities to participate in healthcare improvement initiatives.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join a very well established, highly respected team.  R&I at ELFT has strong links with world-leading universities and this role with offer the chance to work with senior clinicians and academics.

We are looking for a reliable and organized Research Operations Coordinator to assist with the management of daily logistics and activities thus contributing to the smooth running the R&I department. 

 

Main duties of the job

  • ensuring regulatory compliance by being responsible for information governance / data security processes related to study site files, and facilitating meetings of the Governance & Ethics Committee for Studies and Evaluations (GECSE);
  • maximising quality, responsibility for our promotional channels, including the R&I internet microsite and conferences/events, to ensure we are communicating effectively, efficiently, and with up-to-date information; and
  • supporting good financial management, specifically by managing procurement processes for the R&I team.

In addition to your core role, you may be called upon to support other areas from time to time and will have the chance to be involved in a range of initiatives and training opportunities to help you to develop your skills and career. You will have unstinting attention to detail to achieve high quality delivery, you will work with a range of internal stakeholders to get things done.

The successful applicant will have a background in operational and administrative management and be organised and enthusiastic with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, in addition to a strong team culture and a willingness to achieve. The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven work experience as an Operations Coordinator or similar role
  • Good time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues
  • Effective communication, including speaking, writing and active listening
  • Able to give and receive feedback and constructive criticism from a variety of channels
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential criteria
  • A degree in business, operations management, or a related field; for example project management, finance, statistics, accounting, or behavioural science

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in a project management, operations, or similar role
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in the NHS

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Expert-level organizational skills; need to keep track of project documentation, data, funds, and project time frames to be effective
  • Must have vital planning skills; need use their keen eye for detail and spot potential problems before they become major issues and design solutions to keep plans processes on track
  • Able to work flexibly, creatively, and co-operatively – contributing to the formulation and adjustment of plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, empathy and persuasion
  • Good writing and communication skills – communicate complex information to a range of audiences and through a variety of mediums with confidence, empathy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate written and verbal reports and maintain up to date records
  • Solid ability to produce accurate meeting papers, excel spread sheets, graphs, reports using MS Office packages and use virtual meetings platforms
