The Clinical Director will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership and ensuring quality of care within the Health and Justice Services. You will manage the medical staff in Offender Care services, ensuring job planning, appraisal and performance management is carried out effectively and in a timely manner.
The Clinical Director will report to the Divisional Medical Director and are professionally accountable to their Head of Profession.

Main duties of the job
· Lead on improving quality across the service
· Engage clinical staff in determining quality services
· Ensure care pathways are smooth and patients are managed through them effectively
· Create a learning culture among clinicians
· Ensure complaints and incidents are dealt with effectively and action plans created to address deficiencies
- To be jointly accountable with the service director for the effective performance of the health and justice services demonstrating achievement against national and local targets
- Work with the service director to ensure budgets are managed effectively and cost improvement plans are achieved

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical Management
- Responsibility for line management of medical staff including undertaking job planning and ensuring appraisals are undertaken to a high standards
- Ensure all clinical staff have structured supervision and appraisal
- Ensure team conflict is identified and dealt with appropriately
- Tackle individual and team performance issues, delivering resolutions
- Deliver change management programmes as required, supporting clinical staff through the process

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant Professional Qualification or evidence of ongoing professional development
- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- MRCPsych
