Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Finance Department to recruit 3 committed, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individuals to join the Overseas Visitors Team to support in the expansion of Overseas Visitors Service to North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).  Therefore, two staff will provide cover for NELFT sites and one staff will cover ELFT. 

The support would involve successful individuals playing crucial and constructive part in the delivery and management of the overseas visitors processes, which thus require, working collaboratively with all level of front line clinical and admin staff.   

You will also be expected to develop and and maintain key working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including the Home Office, DHSC, NHSE and NHSBA, as well as liaise and provide support to service users.  The role will include, the identification, capture, processing and recording of all overseas visitors activities across the various NELFT/ELFT sites in accordance with the existing guidance.

 You should be educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications and some  experience of finance functions.    

Main duties of the job

- To identify, capture and record the overseas visitor’s activity data across all the NELFT/ELFT sites and services in relation to compliance with the NHS cost recovery - overseas visitors requirements and for income generation.   

-To support the Head of Overseas Visitors in establishing patient’s eligibility for free NHS treatment by interview and implementing the Department of Health (DOH) overseas visitors charging regulations.

-To obtain and prepare NCA and overseas visitors activity data reports in conjunction with the Information Services Department.

-To maintain liaison while working collaboratively with key external stakeholders, including the Home Office, DHSC, NHSBA, NHSE, Embassy staff, Insurance Companies.

-To work collaboratively as well as maintain effective communication with senior clinicians, service leads, nurses, admin staff and other relevant departments in the achievement of the above.

-To ensure individual overseas patients’ activities for EEA and Non-EEA nationals are recorded and invoices raised direct to patients as appropriate.

-To receive monthly NCA data report from Information Services and ensure that the excel data is manipulated via lookups and pivot tables and validated using NHS spine.

-To actively participate in training Trust staff in the application of policies and processes and to raise awareness of the need to identify and charge overseas visitors as necessary.  This will require sometimes-leading training sessions.

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level with some experience of finance function
Desirable criteria
  • Significant experience within similar environment, i.e. public sector finance.

Experience Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Strong numeracy, analytical and judgmental skills
  • Excellent IT skills in various computer packages, e.g. Microsoft applications.
  • Proven experience in patient systems and processes.
  • Understanding of Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
Desirable criteria
  • Oracle e-Financials Invoicing experience
  • Budget monitoring experience.
  • Experience of system improvement
