Job overview

Are you a dynamic and experienced nurse looking to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced environment? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our team as a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse within our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.

We are located on a single site in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey and run several outpatient clinics in neighbouring areas including Raynes Park Health Centre and Teddington Memorial Hospital.
We are a leading provider of diagnostic and treatment services to over 350,000 people locally, and we have a national reputation for innovative developments in healthcare, particularly in patient-focused care, day surgery, and maternity services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide leadership within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit, undertaking the role of nurse in charge within this space and providing specialist nursing advice to co-workers and juniors working throughout the unit. The post holder will work alongside medical staff to assess needs and deliver treatment effectively within agreed protocols. 
The post holder will work with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that care is evidence based and that continuous quality improvement programmes are in place that constantly challenges practice.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NMC level 1 Registration or equivalent AHP
  • Possess degree level qualification in relevant discipline or in progress
  • Knowledge of current nursing/AHP issues
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Significant years of experience at Band 6 in medicine
Desirable criteria
  • ALS
  • Previous study at level 7.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Two years’ experience at Band 6 in medicine
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience within a clinical setting.
