Job overview
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will work autonomously in the SDEC Clinic working as part of the SDEC multidisciplinary team.
To provide a high quality service within the SDEC clinic to all patients directly referred by GP’s, A&E, outpatient clinics and community services. To continue the nurse led DVT service within Kingston Hospital.
The practitioner will participate in the provision of specialist education, training programme and clinical leadership within the SDEC.
They will collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and review medical and nursing protocols, guidelines and pathways within emergency care.
Main duties of the job
· To undertake clinical practice at an advanced level, delivering and participating in the clinical care of patients within the SDEC.
· To provide clinical advice and leadership to the relevant nursing teams, colleagues and managers as requested.
· To take a lead in enhancing nursing and medical practice through promoting and demonstrating evidence based clinical practice.
· To act as an autonomous practitioner making independent clinical decisions, initiating investigations, technological interventions, and care/treatment using expert clinical judgement and extended scopes of practice.
· To act as a role model and expert resource including in assisting to develop nursing and advanced practice roles according to service development and evolving models of care.
· To promote practice that is dynamic, efficient, innovative and continuously improved in its relevance and responsiveness to the needs of the population.
· To contribute to the development of initiatives to promote effective patient flow and timely patient discharge, the reduction in health inequalities, patient self-management and integrated working with primary/secondary care colleagues.

Essential criteria
- NMC or HCPC registration without restrictions
- MSc Advanced Practice or equivalent qualification with experience
- Registered non-medical prescriber
Desirable criteria
- teaching qualification
- advanced life support qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- 2 or more years experience at band 7
- Experience of working in an acute or emergency care environment
- Experience of working autonomously in a clinical setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience in working in SDEC
- Leading on service improvement projects
