If you are, then Day Care Services may be for you.  The RMH operate a chemotherapy suite at Kingston hospital. The unit is a busy day care facility, providing care and support to patients with a wide variety of cancers. The unit will offer a modern, pleasant environment to ensure comfort and a relaxed setting throughout the patient’s pathway. We are committed to providing the highest quality care and maintaining consistently high standards in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

Main duties of the job

  • Appointments, scheduling and capacity management 
  • To deal with all new patient chemotherapy referrals from clinicians, ensuring that the first chemotherapy treatment is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Times targets.
  • To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the chemotherapy experience.
  • To liaise with the clinical teams and nursing staff to prioritise the scheduling of new referrals.

  • To schedule all chemotherapy treatment on the Medical Day Unit in line with local guidelines and protocols.
  • To plan patient treatment and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of influencing factors such as the nursing staff rota, pharmacy turnaround times, availability of blood results etc.
  • To plan ahead and to reschedule workload when necessary, to ensure that the unit capacity is optimally utilised.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • ELC (European Computer Driving Licence) or equivalent
  • NVQ Customer Care

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Understanding of working with patients who are critically and chronically ill
  • Office Management/ Supervisor
