West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

We are looking to welcome you! – A Band 7 Occupational Therapist who are looking to develop your leaderships skills for a 6 month Secondment. We are looking for someone with knowledge and understanding of working with individuals in a mental health in-patient setting, who wants to improve their leaderships skills and have the opportunity to work with a well-respected, award winning OT team.

The post holder will undertake the day to day running of the department, ensuring services are covered, supervise junior staff and students.

  • To ensure that the Occupational Therapy service delivered to patients is client-centred, needs-led, evidence- based and non-discriminatory.

 

  • To identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan, using specialist mental health and Occupational Therapy assessment tools and outcome measures.

 

  • To ensure patient/group treatment programmes are monitored, evaluated and modified as required on a regular and systematic basis to measure, progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.

 

  • To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyles and adaptations to improve the service user’s social and physical environment.
  • To facilitate fieldwork education for Occupational Therapy students undertaking placements within relevant areas and be responsible for the supervision and written assessments of these students.

  • HCPC Registered
  • Evidence of post-graduate training in mental health

Experience

  • Demonstrable post qualified experience as a Senior Occupational Therapist
  • Clear indication of practice and interest in the relevant Mental Health area
  • In-patient and/or community mental health OT clinical experience
  • Supervision of O.T.’s and support staff
  • Supervision of O.T. students on practice placement
  • Demonstrated involvement in service development
