We are on the lookout for a passionate, HCPC-registered Haematology & Blood Transfusion Biomedical Scientist to become an integral part of our dynamic team. This Band 6 position is your gateway to working with cutting-edge technology including Abbott Alinity HQ Haematology analysers, Stago StarMax2 Haemostasis analysers, Alifax ESR Technology, and Immucor Blood Grouping analysers.

Our operation is 24/7, ensuring the continuity and quality of patient care, and you will play a vital role in this essential service, potentially participating in our night worker rota.

Good communication skills are essential, as the post holder is required to communicate effectively with Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists, Clinicians and other healthcare providers and managers in and out of the Trust; other Trust Directorates including Estates, IT, Human Resource, Payroll, Occupational Health, Purchasing and Finance. Active participation in local and divisional laboratory meetings is expected.

Additional relationships appropriate to the role may be required

The day-to-day running of a section within the laboratory under the direction of a Laboratory Manager.

Contributes to providing a professional clinical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department.

To develop and improve professional expertise and specialist skills.

To possess the skills required to provide the necessary training and supervision of staff within the section. To provide and co-ordinate specialist clinical technical and scientific services to patients that may include research and audit.

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
