We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced clinical psychologist looking for a part time position (0.4 WTE) working in the Paediatric Diabetes Service at West Middlesex University Hospital (WMUH) hospital

The successful post holder will be well supported in a friendly and innovative team. We will also consider applications from newly qualified candidates who would be employed at Band7.

You will have significant post qualification experience in child/paediatric psychology, with some experience of working in diabetes being highly desirable.

There is also a subgroup of clinical psychologists working in the paediatric diabetes teams across the section who meet regularly.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified Clinical Psychology service to children, young people and their families, seen within the specialist paediatric diabetes service at West Middlesex Hospital.

The role will involve working as an integrated member of the Paediatric Diabetes Team to support children, young people and families on a primarily outpatient basis, with occasional inpatient work. The post holder will provide a psychology assessment and intervention service for the local Paediatric Diabetes population, Type 1 and Type 2.

The role requires regular liaison with MDTs' schools and external agencies involved in the care of children and young people. Experience with a range of ways of working is required, drawing on different theoretical frameworks to meet presenting needs.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Working for our organisation

As part of the Central and North West London Foundation NHS Trust (CNWL), Paediatric Psychology services are provided to four acute hospital trusts, (7 hospital sites), across the North West London region. There are regular opportunities to link with the psychologists working across the trusts both informally and formally for CPD and peer support. The CNWL Paediatric Psychology Service meets once a month for business, journal and research presentations, as well as clinical and skill sharing. There is a diabetes subgroup within this who also meet on a regular basis to review and share practice across the 6 MDT diabetes teams.

West Middlesex University Hospital is a large teaching hospital offering secondary and tertiary level medical services to an ethnically and socio-economically diverse population. Clinical Psychology services are provided to Paediatric Outpatients and the Special Care Baby Unit.
