Job overview

We are currently recruiting to an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position on Rodney ward, Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, Ilford IG3 8XJ. We offer flexibility around working conditions including; flexible working or job share. Other benefits include parking, on site café, a collegiate consultant body and a supportive and compassionate culture.

 

You will lead and supervise the medical team including 1wte Speciality Doctor and 1wte Clinical fellow and will have the opportunity to influence future direction, treatment, and models of design in the area in which you work.

Main duties of the job

·       Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to adult people with mental health needs, within the inpatient setting.

·       Provide clinical leadership and senior medical support and guidance to the team

·       Work directly with adults and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external mental health providers and acute hospitals

·       Participate in the on-call rota frequency is currently 1:50, with a 3% of basic salary, Category A on-call supplement.

·       Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member whilst allowing them to work with their own initiative

Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals, and agencies

  • GMC

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in older adults
  • Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds. Working with interpreters and translators

Knowledge

  • An awareness of NHS strategic and clinical governance priorities

Clinical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent clinical skills. Excellent communication skills both verbally and written. Familiarity with a wide range of theoretical and clinical approaches. Ability to provide clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team and to function as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Clear thoughts on how to involve service users in service development and quality improvement
  • Experience in service development
