An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health Visitor or School Nurse to join the Multi Agency Child Protection and Assesment Team as the lead health practitioner. The post holder will be key in offering an expert health perspective as part of the child protection process. This team will include a mix of social workers, health practitioners, police and education.

The post holder will work with the local authority Multiagency Child Protection Team providing expert clinical health advice to support the process of safeguarding babies, children and young people (BCYP).
The post will include working together with the multiagency team including children’s social care, police and education to ensure safe and effective decision making at every point in the BCYP’s safeguarding journey.
The post holder will be the consistent expert health voice within the Multiagency Child Protection Team, ensuring that liaison with other health professionals in primary care, community and acute care has been sought to ensure informed decision-making.
The post holder will ensure effective and timely communication and information sharing both internally and externally which compliments and facilitates multidisciplinary/interagency working.
The post holder will be a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with significant experience in safeguarding, who can assess the BCYP and family holistically, taking into account the Common Assessment Framework.
The post holder will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals, police, education and other agencies within the voluntary sector.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) pro rata for part time staff.

· To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload in the day to day allocation of work.
· To offer expert clinical health advice to support decision making within the child protection process and be the lead decision maker for health within the team.
· To have organisational, local and national knowledge surrounding safeguarding and child protection to inform decision making.
· To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
· To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
· To employ professional curiosity in your day-to-day role and act upon any findings appropriately.
· To be able to analyse and interpret health information to inform multiagency risk assessments and safety plans.
· To be responsible for the budget related to the team.
· To influence service development resulting from audits and feedback.
· To deputise for the 8b Head of Service where required.
· To be an autonomous practitioner, with the ability to make decisions to benefit the service.

Experience

- Minimum of 2 years post SCPHN qualification, working actively as a Health Visitor or School Nurse
- Line management experience at band 7 or above
- Experience of working with babies, children, young people and their families in the community setting.

- Experience of interagency working
- Experience of managing HR issues
