Nutrition and Dietetics Team - NELFT (North East London Foundation Trust)

NELFT's Barking, Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge Nutrition and Dietetics team is excited to announce an opportunities for Band 6 Community Specialist Dietitians with paediatric dietetics experience to join our expanding Paediatric Dietetic team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and confident professional to contribute to our growing team's success, delivering exceptional care across the mentioned localities.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dietetics Assessment and Treatment: Provide dietetic assessment and treatment for adults and children residing in Barking, Dagenham, Redbridge, and Havering with support from the established team.
  2. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with dietitians and Multi-disciplinary Team teams to improve nutritional care for patients across Barking, Dagenham, Redbridge, and Havering.
  3. Patient Centred Care: Demonstrate sensitivity, non-judgment, and professionalism in dealing with patients. Provide advice in a considerate manner.
  4. Professional Development: Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and training opportunities
  5. Communication and Time Management: Possess excellent communication and time management skills to efficiently coordinate tasks and interactions with patients, carers, and fellow health professionals.

  8. Flexibility: Be able to travel efficiently to fulfill job requirements. The role may involve travel across the three boroughs – Barking, Dagenham, Redbridge, and Havering.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Evidence of a range of CPD activities including paediatrics
Desirable criteria
  • Introduction to Paediatric Dietetics Course or Modules 1 and 2 Paediatric Dietetic Course or equivalent
  • Advanced Course in Paediatric Dietetics or Modules 3 and 4 Paediatric Dietetic Course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NHS experience (minimum 1 year)
  • Evidence of the dietetic management of a wide range of complex clinical conditions
  • Paediatric Enteral Feeding/Nutritional Support
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams:
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in Paediatric Dietetics
  • Experience of delivering Training for Health Care Professionals.
  • Experience of co-ordinating and delivery of Public Health campaigns.
  • Experience of developing protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Experience of providing support to junior Dietetic staff.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of current Government initiatives and the delivery at a local level
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Quality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
