Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Community Respiratory / Oxygen Clinical Physiotherapy or Nurse Specialist in a Community Respiratory Service in Hounslow, as part of Integrated Care service line at West London NHS Trust.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed person to join new Community Respiratory Service in Hounslow. You will be working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team comprising of nurses and physiotherapists, Therapist Assistant and administrative staff.

 

Hounslow Community Respiratory Service, supports chronic respiratory patients in the community with managing their conditions, providing them with support to Self-Manage.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the care provision and review of the respiratory patient, thereby minimising risks and promoting recovery by supporting a multi-disciplinary approach to delivering individualised care, self-management and preventing unplanned hospital admissions.

 

To empower clients, adopting a problem solving approach, encouraging and giving clients the confidence and skills to improve the self-management of their chronic respiratory disease.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN or Physio Qualifications
  • Completion of the Assessors training
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration nursing course in respiratory care.
  • Physical assessment course
  • Independent Prescribing

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of respiratory conditions and treatments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health care needs in a multicultural society.
  • Understanding of the role of the clinical nurse specialist / Respiratory Physiotherapist.
  • Knowledge of health promotion activities and strategies.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Respiratory Medicines management
  • Running Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of palliative care related to symptom management

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience within respiratory care either in community or hospital
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with / in primary care
