We are recruiting a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in support of the Trust’s strategy to develop and support emergency services appropriate to a busy local acute hospital, with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services.

We are looking for a Consultant who wants to work in an evolving emergency dept. and be part of an evolving  team, and support and implementing the changes which will take the service forward. This is a full time post but applicants wishing to job share are welcome.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Emergency Medicine at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is a substantive role to replace the current postholder, the total establishment being 11 WTE Consultants to ensure senior clinical presence/decision making out of hours including weekends.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a thriving and expanding Emergency Department with a secure future which sees approximately 165,000 attendees per annum. There is also a co-located UTC that receives on average 200 patients/day. In addition approximately 25,000 are seen in the Minor Injuries Unit at our Mount Vernon Hospital site. The department has a history of innovation in patient care and has a continuing personal development programme to support on-going service development. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the department and take part in Hospital-wide initiatives to improve Emergency Care and the patient experience.

The post holder will be expected to participate fully in the provision of general services in Emergency Medicine, including governance issues and maintenance of the new Department of Health Quality Indicators.
The successful applicant must hold CCST/CCT or be within 6 months in Emergency Medicine; OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Emergency Medicine.
