Job overview

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  These posts are for 6 months – 1 year from August 2024.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in a 1 in 8 EWTD compliant rota to provide anaesthetic cover in main theatres and support the on call anaesthetic team when necessary including obstetric anaesthetist and ICU.

The role will cover work at both sites

At The Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital

•       Theatres / Anaesthesia and Perioperative care, including pre-operative assessment

•           Pain and analgesia service

•           Transfer of patients to other hospitals

•           Resuscitation service

These duties will change over time in response to the needs of the service.

 

The rota includes day and night shifts working at the Hillingdon site and day shifts at Mount Vernon..

All efforts will be taken to provide appropriate training and experience to suit the individual appointee and service needs.The post holder will be expected to provide evidence of competence in relevant procedures and practical skills as well as log book evidence of previous training.

The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Minimum 2.5 years of post-graduate training.
  • Minimum 6 months of anaesthetic training in UK
  • IAC Complete
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Teaching Skills
  • Administration Audit Skills
  • Demonstration of participation in audit and clinical governance
  • Good communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a Team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Obstetric Anaesthesia / Intensive Care Medicine at SHO level
  • Primary / FRCA or equivalent
  • Experience in Obstetric Anaesthesia / Intensive Care Medicine at SHO level
  • Some scientific publications of acceptable standard
  • Strong motivation to maintain, improve and adjust service provision to changing needs
