This post is best suited for someone who is planning a career in obstetrics and gynaecology but would like also to have enhanced training and education.  Teaching is face to face and O&G skills sessions are in a small group. Main duties of the job

This post has been designed to complement the undergraduate medical teaching and Obstetrics and Gynaecology service at a busy district general hospital with university connections, delivering over 5000 women per annum

 

The post is predominantly undergraduate funded due to the strong teaching component.  The post holder will be expected to conduct bedside gynaecological teaching, together with labour ward-based teaching, and a teaching session where problem-based learning and patient-oriented teaching is implemented.  The successful candidate will be involved in teaching examination skills utilising models in the Skills/Drills laboratory together with ‘hands-on’ teaching with patients.  The above will be face to face sessions on Northwick Park Campus.  The post holder will liaise with other teaching fellows at other hospital sites and organise central induction for all the students on O&G rotation. The post holder will organanise MOCK PACE’s for each rotation.  

 

The post holder will be expected to teach year 3 students during introduction week in October and Year 1 in May and Year 2 in December and March.  If required bedside teaching, topic teaching for year 3. Recruit patients for final year exams and help during PACE’s exams, The post holder will be an examiner for year 3 MOCK and final OSCE’s.

The Post

 

 

This post has been designed to complement the undergraduate medical teaching and Obstetrics and Gynaecology service at a busy district general hospital with university connections, delivering over 5000 women per annum.

 

Northwick Park Hospital have strong links with Imperial College, and from September 2024 Brunel Medical School.  We are the third largest campus taking and take large numbers of students per annum.

 

The post holder will be expected to work closely with Dr Naila Kamal, Course Co-ordinator for Undergraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology, together with Anup Jethwa, the Undergraduate Education Manager and her office and Deputy Director of Clinical Studies.

 

The post holder will co-ordinate weekly consultant teaching sessions for 6-week clinical placements for each rotation. There is 6 rotation per year starting end of July to end of May.
