Job overview
The role of the Endoscopy Team Leader is to ensure of smooth running department where 30 thousand patients are scheduled per year. Post holder is responsible for managing a team across the 3 trust sites, lead, coordinate rota, cover annual leave and manage sickness. Post holder responsibilities will include working closely with the training leads to deliver internal, national and international endoscopy trainings. Supervisor/ team and patient coordinator responsibilities will have to work in line with response to stakeholder and JAG requirements.
The post holder may be required to work across sites to meet the service’s needs. This role entails operational decision-making skills, ability to work autonomously using own initiative and within the team in the development and delivery of the diagnostic and treatment service. This role also entails providing support to the pre assessment, EROS and endoscopy administration and clinical staff.
The post holder will be expected to utilize designated operational practices within the specified endoscopy reporting systems/ GCIS/ ICS etc. This role will also include reinsuring funding states for patients from Welsh, Scotland, Northern Ireland and oversees. It is expected that the post holder is highly computer literate, highly experienced within the hospital administrative setting with knowledge and evidence of medical terminology, educated to a level required to perform the role or equivalent experience.
Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Liaise with the endoscopy department and pre assessment team to ensure that
endoscopy lists appropriately booked.
• Actively monitor waiting times targets and escalate risks relating to patient pathways
and waiting times to the lead specialist nurse, service manager and clinical manager.
• Ensure management of patient activity and special requests within endoscopy
service are followed up in a timely fashion.
• Oversee preparation for the next day admission patient/subject notes retrieval,
prepared documents for nursing staff and tracking of patient’s progress within the pre
assessment pathway.
• Support the provision of general and basic advice to patient/subject queries and
refers clinical-related queries to Nurses/relevant staff.
• Arrange regular meetings to discuss the service and address capacity and pathway
improvements.
• Assist in audit and data collection relating to the JAG/GRS

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To be responsible for coordinating the endoscopy GRS audits as
recommended by JAG liaising with the medical and nursing team to ensure
that audit data can be captured using the appropriate audit tools at the
appropriate intervals during the year.
• Oversee and supervise admin staff in the endoscopy unit and the team roster to ensure full-service delivery and coverage.
• Ensure that bowel preparation is posted to patients at all 3 sites.
• To assist the Endoscopy management and coordinate the downloading of
audits required as part of yearly reporting on the JAG accreditation website and the 5 years visitation.
• To input audit information onto the Trust Audit database
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Ensure funding states for patients from Welsh, Scotland, Northern Ireland and overseas

- 1. Educated to first degree level or equivalent in Information Technology
- Experience in managing a team. Understanding Microsoft Access knowledge
