Job overview

The IT Specialist for Medical Devices plays a crucial role within the Trust's ICT team, collaborating with various groups to foster a culture dedicated to outstanding ICT service delivery. This specialist is tasked with auditing, identifying, and integrating medical devices that need to be connected to the Trust's data network.

Main duties of the job

The primary duty of the role is to serve as the IT Team's lead, coordinating with Clinical Applications Teams, Suppliers, and System Administrators. This includes spearheading the development and implementation of solutions for integrating Medical Devices into the IT Infrastructure.

The role involves assessing device connectivity specifications and determining how to interface them with the trust's network infrastructure, ensuring adherence to the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).

The individual will facilitate collaboration among teams to advance project tasks and manage operational work, upholding Medical Device configuration standards.

Additionally, the role encompasses various operational responsibilities within the IT infrastructure, focusing on data networks and firewall components to guarantee seamless daily operations, which covers maintenance, troubleshooting, and developmental tasks, in partnership with contracted support providers.

Possessing specialist knowledge in IT network infrastructure, evidenced by current vocational qualifications, is crucial for the role. The role demands making informed decisions and crafting solutions for the integration of medical devices into the infrastructure, often under the pressure of deadlines or budget limitations. 

Key working relationships include:

·       ICT Teams (Network, Server and Datacentre, End User Compute, and Cyber Security)
