Practice Development Nurse - Acute Wards Medicine & Therapies Division

An opportunity has been created for a dynamic and enthusiastic senior nurse, to ensure a developmental, educational and supportive environment is provided for nursing staff working within our acute general medical wards.
The post is predominantly based at Northwick Park Hospital but you may be required to work cross site. The primary responsibility is the development and implementation of nursing standards, protocols and pathways for nursing staff working in the following specialties: cardiology and ccu, respiratory, rheumatology and endocrinology, infectious diseases and acute general medicine.
The ideal candidate will share a passion for teaching and sharing best practice in the delivery of safe and quality patient care and ensure nursing staff are competent and safe to practice within the designated wards.

The Practice Development Nurse is responsible for disseminating information to all stakeholders using multi-media methods (written reports, letters, e-mail, verbal communication (face to face & telephone), electronic teaching presentation or practical teaching session. Communication will take place with individuals, teams and groups of staff, and external organizations on a formal and informal basis.
To audit all educational, training and development programmes linked to the overseas nursing programmes and communicate the results to the relevant and appropriate departments and organizations.
Assist ward managers with training needs analysis for staff.
Assist ward managers with ensuring staff competence and close monitoring of capability and safety of nursing practice in the acute medical wards.
Deliver training on new ways of working, Trust standards, policies and procedures that directly affect patient care delivery.
Predominantly an autonomous role you will work with peer PDNs within the division, corporate nursing team and wider Trust organisational development network to ensure staff receive training and development essential for delivering high standards of patient care .
