Job Purpose - Monday-Friday 9-5pm
To provide occupational therapy, evidenced based assessments and treatment for referred clients, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for groups or individuals in conjunction with senior occupational therapists. This will include providing visible and professional support to ensure the delivery of high quality care and rehabilitation
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for the planning and delivery of occupational therapy to assessments and interventions to patients within the rehabilitation unit, prioritising clinical needs to provide an effective service.
- To undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance, impairments identified and enabling the client in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
- To work with a caseload of patients of varying complexities and needs
- To independently carry out rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving or maintaining independence.
- To formulate intervention plans which are aimed at maximising independence and reflect the clients' own goals.
- To work pro-actively with other professionals in providing group and individual interventions.
- To work with clients and other professionals to identify occupational therapy goals as part of the overall care plan.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To exercise good personal time management, punctuality, and consistent reliable attendance.
- To support with the delivery of supervision of rehabilitation assistants and support staff.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade.
- Financial Management- To access petty cash when required and be responsible for providing receipts.
- To be mindful of relevant budgets when prescribing equipment and requesting supplies.
- To complete expenses claim forms for reclaiming mileage in accordance with policy
- To be responsible for organising placements for work experience students giving support and guidance during the placement.
- To actively participate in the training and development programmes of Health Care and Assistant staff, Rehabilitation Support Workers, and other disciplines.
- To provide, in liaison with other OT staff, a support group for occupational therapy students on practice placement.
- To undertake training of occupational therapy students on practice placement as delegated by the clinical supervisor.

Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
- Relevant post graduate training
- Member of RCOT/special interest group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Application of the OT Process in a clinical setting.
- Experience of working as part of an MDT
- Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
- Relevant work experience in a variety of clinical placements
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delegation to support staff
