Job overview
The Power BI developer is a new role for North London NHS Foundation Trust and the postholder will support the expansion of the Trust's business intelligence platform and advanced analytical capability to deliver the aims of the Digital Strategic Plan.
Lead on the development of information systems and data resources across our technical environment. The role will involve the detailed analysis and understanding of complex technical and business requirements across multiple services within the Trust to deliver high quality products and facilitate their delivery into business-as-usual operation.
Working in partnership with the wider Digital Team to create strategies and plans for data capacity planning, data security, life cycle data management, scalability, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity and archiving. Responsible to carry out regular reviews of the new Microsoft Azure platform and both Trusts legacy SQL Server data warehouse setup to develop and maintain a common data architecture asset including framework, principle, guideline and template to ensure the data architecture is kept up to date in line with the business requirements. Maintaining and evolving the Trust's data warehouse and business intelligence platform to support the provision of central information, performance and intelligence.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive dataset framework incorporating all Trust systems within the data warehouse, for relational database modelling, master data management, application design with associated business rules.
To take responsibility for the planning, creation, implementation, maintenance and ongoing evolution of big data / data models / data marts / data cubes within the Trust’s data warehouse, sourced from a wide variety of information systems including patient, staffing, financial and other disparate internal and external data sources
To develop automated data loading (ETL) and validation processes, at the same time maintaining efficient data warehouse metadata structures.
To ensure high quality data warehouse security, putting in place robust security measures to allow adequate access for the required users whilst protecting sensitive patient-identifiable data.
Analyse, interpret and resolve highly complex statistical and contractual problems where there is no precedent and where other leading opinions may conflict.
To lead on designing data solutions based on requirements from the Data Architects and Product Owners with a focus on availability, quality and scalability
Responsible for ensuring that all systems designed, developed, and managed by the Management Information team fulfil the highest standards of information security and privacy.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Information Systems or in related subject (data analytics, health economics, statistics or management information etc) or proven equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Certified Azure and data fundamentals
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure Technologies, knowledge and experience in azure databricks, azure data factory, devops and Git
- Experience of performing complex information analysis to support decision making
- Experience of cloud data warehouse design and build
Skills & Ability
Essential criteria
- Experience of Azure and PBI development and developing in a cloud based environment
- Skilled in writing code in python and/or R, advanced programming skills including SQL
- Skilled in developing across the breadth of the modern data stack, specifically data ingestion, transformation and data layer delivery
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to influence and persuade staff in all roles and at all levels.
