An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the largest Transformation team in a North Central London trust as a Programme Manager where you will play a key role in supporting colleagues to transform and improve services.

Providing a structured and focused approach to the management of large-scale complex change programmes and delivery of their benefits

Delivering transformative change that aligns with RFL’s governing objectives and delivery priorities and ensures that the Trust is a sustainable organisation.

Providing objective challenge, support, and expertise in the pursuit of increased value through programme and project delivery.
Researching and benchmarking best practice from national initiatives which focus on improvement and efficiency

Main duties of the job

The role provides an opportunity to join this exciting and driven team to strengthen the capacity and capability across the organisation and its workforce, particularly in relation to leadership, improvement and change.  As a Programme Manager you will lead several complex programmes or strategic commissions, ensuring that the core principles of programme management are adhered to, whilst maintaining a focus on continuous quality improvement which underpins the way we work. You will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating these programmes and ensuring that they are set up to deliver over a number of years. 

You will need to strategically as well as operationally lead the programmes, working closely with the SRO and Executive Lead.  Significant experience in programme management is a must as you will be required to work across departments and all levels of the organisation to inspire, design and lead these improvement programmes.  As well as being technically competent, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication so you can work effectively with multiple stakeholders across the organisation.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Relevant Masters qualification or equivalent experience of working as a senior operational or strategic manager in a relevant field
  • Project management training or qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Quality Improvement training or qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Programme management experience – experience of driving Trustwide / multi-site change programme
  • Experience of managing a team to achieve delivery of planned benefits
  • Evidence of the ability to involve teams in analysis of situation and solution development; persuade teams to take on new ways of working and to constructively challenge the status quo
  • Experience of working in a demanding environment with many, sometimes conflicting priorities
  • Experience of successfully developing collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of financial recovery and turnaround, or improving financial sustainability within an organisation

Skills & knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to create a clear programme plan and prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing demands and requirements
  • Established leadership skills – with the ability to direct, empower, motivate, challenge, and facilitate in order to deliver results
  • Able to work autonomously and use own initiative
  • Ability to build and manage good relationships among stakeholders build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the programme as required
  • Strong analytical skills; able to analyse and interpret complex data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Proven change management and leadership skills, able to deploy a range of approaches to influence people and drive change
