Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust - one of the biggest NHS Trusts in the UK, delivering care to more than 1.6 million people a year through our three main hospitals: Barnet, Chase Farm and Royal Free.
We are looking for a B7 highly specialist pain management physiotherapist who can deliver patient focused, evidence-based, high-quality patient care within our Pain Management services.
This is an excellent opportunity to consolidate existing experience and develop further skills in the management of persistent pain in an out-patient, multi-disciplinary Pain Management service. Each service consists of highly experienced and specialist clinicians including Psychologists, Consultants, Nurses and Physiotherapists and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners.
Working for our organisation
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of patients, with often complex presentation, and persistent pain. You will have regular clinical supervision and support in addition to in-service training and weekly MDT meetings. The role will involve multidisciplinary and group working to help support patients in living well with persistent pain.
The successful candidate will be able demonstrate the Trust values and the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. You will have a broad experience of working with a range of patients, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with complex persistent pain patients within a Pain Management service is essential.

Education & professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or Diploma or equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for profession
- Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development in specialist clinical area
- Membership of specialist interest group
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of study or intention to study at masters level

Experience

- Substantial postgraduate experience at a Band 6 level including within specialist area
- Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches for the management of patients within specialist clinical area
- Awareness of cognitive behavioural approaches to rehabilitation
- Experience of group work
- Previous experience of junior staff & student supervision/ clinical education
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience of teaching to uni-disciplinary/ multidisciplinary groups
- Evidence of active involvement in service development & contribution to change within the workplace
Desirable criteria
- Experience of clinical audit and/or research
Skills
Essential criteria
- Highly effective written communication skills
- Able to manage own clinical caseload by prioritising effectively and support others to do the same
