Main duties of the job

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Act as a deputy for the CNIO in maternity and other situations as required.
  • Maternity system configuration, system development and testing.
  • Responsible for training and supporting all staff involved with the maternity solution (doctors, pharmacy, prescribers, nurses, midwives and AHPs) encouraging adoption of digital working.
  • Responsible for identifying new digital solutions, suppliers, enhancements and infrastructure for maternity and providing expert advice to support procurement 
  • Support strategic planning for the Trust’s Digital roadmap and ensure medicines optimisation focus within the digital programme.
  • Provide clinical governance for maternity solutions, point of contact for clinical risk management, managing incidents, issues and clinical concerns.
  • Act as an ambassador and clinical representative for the EPR and a champion for the maternity solution, engaging staff and promoting the benefits.

This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.  The Trust was awarded Global Digital Exemplar status in 2017 and one of our main sites achieved HIMSS7 validation in 2022 and is known as the most digitally advanced hospital in the NHS.

We are looking for a maternity leave cover for our Lead Digital Midwife role to support the Clinical Informatics team in our clinical digitisation department. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with the development and further implementation of the EPR and the maternity content across the Trust. Key aspects of the role include:

  • Supporting maternity system configuration, development, testing and implementation
  • Training and supporting all maternity staff involved with the EPR process 
  • Supporting the CNIO to deal effectively with any issues arising to ensure that the EPR system is safe and fit for purpose
  • To act as a champion for EPR, engaging staff and promoting the benefits of EPR,
  • To support the management of future maternity initiatives such as access to personal maternity records
  • To provide leadership to the digital midwives and data quality midwives

You should have experience of working with digital patient solutions, though specific training on our system will be provided.

  • Postgraduate qualification (masters level) (or experience equivalent to)
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.

  • Clinical Safety Officer qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience in a range of maternity areas of practice
  • Experience in IT and digital maternity systems, preferably Cerner Millennium
  • Experience in delivering formal education and training, on complicated subjects, to large groups
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising others.
  • Demonstrable experience of co-ordinating and leading on audit.
  • Experience of the use of data to drive improvements in digital solution use
  • Experience working with senior clinicians and informatics professionals
