Job overview
This consultant appointment is to support the amyloidosis service at the Royal Free and UCLH haematology. The job plan will include sessions for specialist outpatient clinics (Amyloidosis), and a contribution to myeloma outpatients and on call at UCLH. There is no general medical component to this post.
Main duties of the job
1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• To work closely within the Amyloidosis team to deliver an integrated service to patients with amyloidosis, including multi-disciplinary input from cardiology, haematology, nephrology and advanced imaging. This will include participation in all of the National Amyloidosis Centre’s clinical activities, including outpatient clinics and providing advice to treating physicians and to patients.
• To provide clinical input and haematology expertise to the UCH haematology service specifically for amyloidosis, complex plasma cell disorders and amyloidosis. To participate in the attending in patient rota at UCLH.
2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS
• To provide consultant delivered clinical care for patients with all types of amyloidosis.
• To provide the highest standard of care to patients through evidence-based practice and department protocols.
3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
Participation in directorate meetings, audit and governance, and service development and policy review.
4. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL RESOURCES
The post-holder will not have any direct responsibilities for budgets or physical resources.

Education & professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a license to practice) with the General Medical Council(GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
- MRCP or equivalent
- Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Applicants that are non UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Desirable criteria
- MD or PhD
- Outstanding research record
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad experience in gene r a lclinical cardiology and sub - specialty experience in amyloidosis and cardio -oncology
- Training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Skills and aptitudes

- Strong teaching skills and experience
- Understanding o f clinical governance and audit procedures.
